Abstract

|
Gastroschisis is a relatively rare congenital malformation and requires a surgical emergency in the newborn infant.
We experienced one case of gastroschisis with rnalrotation of the intestine as additional anomaly. This case was treated surgically by primary closure of the abdominal wall defect but died in 1T hours after the operation.
The probable cause of death was asphyxia, and pulmonary insufficiency resulting from the high intraabdominal pressure with diaphragmatic elevation.
This report is concerned with. our experience of this case and review of ´embryology, pathology, and the current concepts in the management of gastroschisis in the literatures.
